CREATING BREAKTHROUGH INNOVATION

Supporting companies to introduce new, industry disruptive products and processes – using science and engineering as tools to deliver breakthrough innovation.

From experience, we know that many companies either don’t have the luxury of an on-site technical team, or have specialists who focus solely in selected areas. This can lead to many challenges remaining unsolved, or many good ideas remaining unrealised – hindering vital innovation that companies need to remain productive and competitive.

By assembling a team of specialists from across the relevant disciplines in one place, TRC R&D is capable of approaching industry based challenges with an expansive arsenal of scientific and technical approaches without limitation.

As such, our approach is always:

‘How could something happen?’, as opposed to ‘Why can’t something happen?’

We pride ourselves on our ability to find solutions to industrial problems where others have failed.

Improve part design freedom and quality with latest injection moulding technology – SONIPLAS. As manufacturers push the boundaries of design and performance, existing moulding technologies struggle to meet the need. SONIPLAS is a recent advancement in injection moulding technology that’s helping to overcome these challenges.SONIPLAS utilises ultrasonic energy to reduce melt viscosity during injection, enabling easier filling with lower pressure, lower melt temperatures and less cooling. SONIPLAS process parameters can be varied, depending on what the moulder wants to achieve. Many benefits can be gained with this technology:Existing Parts• Melt temps can be maintained while lower viscosity enables easier/faster filling • Reducing melt temps. enables lower embodied heat leading to substantially reduced cooling times• Lower injection pressure & clamp force means a smaller machine could be used (lower cost)• Lower internal stress reduces warp & stabilisation time New Parts• Design longer or thinner parts with exponential cooling time reduction (heat diffusion-square law)• Design higher Length/Thickness (L/T) ratiosSociety & Environment• Reduce part cost thro’ materials, energy and cycle time savings• Reduce CO2 emissions through materials reductions and energy savingsTo learn more about SONIPLAS or to arrange a demonstration, please contact Andy Watts on 01949 84224Photo - Flow with (bot) & w/out Soniplas (top).
